Cheryl Cole may be one of the UK’s most famous Geordies, but reports have suggested that Chezza has developed an American twang to her accent since being in LA. The X Factor judge who jetted out to the US with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough last month after contracting malaria, is said to have started using American words and phrases.

A source told: “Cheryl has developed a slight American accent whilst she’s been there but it’s still a long way off sounding like she’s not from Newcastle.”

They added: “Derek has been mocking her about a few phrases and he also does a good impression of her voice now.”

The newspaper claims the Girls Aloud star is determined not to lose her Geordie accent so that she doesn’t sound like UK export Joss Stone, who famously lost her Cornish twang in favour of a more Stateside sound.

Cheryl Cole has reportedly begun work on her new album while holidaying in LA.

After being forced to stay at her Surrey mansion for the last few weeks while she recovered from a bout of malaria, Chezza is now enjoying a well-earned break in California.

Despite officially being on holiday with her friend – dancer Derek Hough – Cheryl’s taken the opportunity to start work on some new material while she’s in the States.

A source told The Sun: “Cheryl couldn’t sit around any longer. She feels 100 times better and wants to get some normality back.”

“She was going crazy sitting around at home. She wants a change of scenery so has decided to go to Los Angeles and get back into the studio.”

“But it’s still nowhere near the work schedule she had before she fell ill.”

Simon Cowell has already revealed that Cheryl Cole is ‘bored out of her mind’ as she recovers from malaria at her Surrey home.But what better way to cheer the Girls Aloud star up than a visit from close friend Derek Hough?The Dancing With The Stars professional, who struck up a close friendship with Cheryl after starring in the video for her single Parachute, popped in to see how Cheryl was doing this afternoon.
Derek’s visit comes as Cheryl apparently stepped up security at her house, because she wanted to ensure her safety while she recovers from the disease at the property.

She believes a more secure domestic situation will help her return to full strength sooner.’Cheryl has been out of action since contracting the disease, believed to have been after a holiday to Tanzania with Derek.And while Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger has replaced Cheryl during the bootcamp stages of The X Factor, Cheryl is apparently going stir crazy spending so much time at home.Speaking recently, Simon Cowell explained: ‘I’ve had a few text messages from her over the last few days. ’It was serious and she was ill – we didn’t realise how ill. But judging by the text messages I’ve had, she is definitely looking forward to getting back to work. ’I think our job is to make sure she doesn’t come back too quick because I think she’s bored out of her mind and going crazy.’He added: ‘The texts are getting increasingly feisty so she’s on the mend!’

As the other judges go abroad…

Cheryl Cole could film part of the X Factor series in the UK while the other judges jet off to glamourous locations, say reports.

The star is currently recovering from malaria and has been forced to pull out of the boot camp section of the show.

After that each year the four judges jet off around the world to their ‘houses’ to pick their final contestants for the live shows.

Last year Chezza travelled to Morocco while Simon Cowell was in Los Angeles, Louis in Italy and Dannii Minogue in Dubai.

But it could all change in 2010 with a source telling the Daily Mail: “At this stage we are looking at different ways to make things as easy as possible for Cheryl.

“No decision has been made yet about judges homes. It’s still some way off so we will see closer to the time.”

Dannii Minogue has also been absent from filming much of this series of X Factor on maternity leave.

That’s left guest judges including Katy Perry, Geri Halliwell and Pixie Lott to fill in. Nicole Scherzinger will appear at boot camp to cover for the missing regulars.

She was snapped in MonteCarlo this weekend with boyfriend Lewis Hamilton relaxing before filming this Thursday.

Dancer keen for Girls Aloud singer to get well

Cheryl Cole is reported to have had a special visitor at her home in Surrey.

Dancer Derek Hough, 25, who whisked Cheryl off to Tanzania for a surprise holiday, has been putting a smile back on The X Factor judge’s face.

Cheryl is getting her strength up after battling malaria and is getting stuck into her favourite food.

‘She’s been asking for hotdogs and onions,’ a source tells The Sun.

‘She’s weak and has lost weight, and she’s still going hot and cold. But she is definitely on the mend.’

The Girls Aloud star, 27, is now said to be out of bed and curled up on a sofa watching TV, surrounded by flowers sent by wish-wishers including.Simon Cowell, her Girls Aloud mates and Will.i.am.

Cheryl Cole has left hospital and will continue her recovery from malaria at home.

The X Factor judge, who was taken to hospital 12 days ago with the disease, is recuperating in Hurtmore, Surrey.

She returned yesterday to the £6million six-bedroom marital home she shared with estranged husband Ashley Cole.

Simon Cowell says he is in constant contact with Cheryl Cole, who is “perky and on the mend” from malaria.
The X Factor supremo revealed fellow judge Cheryl messaged him that she was feeling better.
He said yesterday: “I had a text from her last night. She says she is better and feeling perky.
“She does want to come back to work but I need to talk to her about when that’s going to be.”
Cheryl, 27, was struck down by the disease after holidaying in Tanzania three weeks ago with friend Derek Hough, 25.

Last Friday she was allowed out of intensive care at University College Hospital London, where specialists helped her see off the disease. Now Cheryl is resting at a private hospital in the capital.
M e a nw h i l e yesterday, Simon, 50, helped acid attack victim Katie Piper launch a campaign for funds for a specialist burns clinic. The ex-model, 26, was scarred in an assault set up by her ex.
Simon said: “She is one of the most inspiring people I know.”
Katie said: “When Simon called I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it was a hoax.
“But he contacted me and very kindly agreed to help.”

Cheryl Cole’s dad, Gary Tweedy has revealed that the Girls Aloud star is on the mend and continues to improve.

Gary told The Mirror how he has been phoning the Fight For This Love singer regularly since she was admitted to hospital 10 days ago with malaria after contracting the deadly plasmodium falciparum strain of the disease in Tanzania.

Tweedy told the newspaper: “She has been in a bad way and we have obviously been worried. But she’s on the mend now.”

The 47-year old added: “We don’t know how long she’ll be in hospital, I don’t think the doctors know. We’re just relieved she’s all right.”

Chezza’s father who split with her mum, Joan Callaghan 16 years ago also claimed that medics are hopeful that the X Factor judge will make a full recovery from the tropical illness.

He revealed that his daughter has been on oxygen and a drip after the disease took hold of the singer’s frail body – leaving her weak and jaundiced.

The 27-year old, who filed for divorce from hubby Ashley Cole back in May has been told not to work until September at the earliest, ruling her out of X Factor boot camp and V Festival.

She has also been advised by doctors to ‘sort out’ her nutrition and stress levels by taking up relaxing yoga and Pilates as well as recommending Chez to scrap her blood-type diet to regain full health.
