Cheryl Cole may be used to living it up in LA but that doesn’t stop her pining for good, old, British, home-comforts.

While she waits to find out if she has landed the coveted US X Factor judge job, Cheryl has been telling Glamour magazine about the down side of living in America – and it’s mainly the food she has an issue with.

She said: “Ringtons tea from Newcastle is the best. I always ask my family to bring me some when they visit. I also miss British chocolate. American chocolate is awful – it’s like wax. I have to get some Dairy Milk or Galaxy brought out. As for their KitKats… I don’t know how they can even call them KitKats.”

Like most girls, Ms Cole likes nothing better than tucking into a choccie bar when she’s having a bad day, but how does she manage to stay in shape?

She told the magazine:  “I don’t have a regime that I regularly stick to. I honestly don’t have one.

“But the TV out here is non-stop with adverts for the latest health craze. People give themselves too much of a hard time with stuff like that – just do it if you want to.”

Cheryl will find out if she’ll have to get used to the American way of life when the US X Factor judges are announced later this month.

CHERYL Cole has been left heartbroken after her tearaway brother was jailed for six years for plotting an armed robbery.

Singer Cheryl Cole‘s brother, Andrew Tweedy, 30, who committed his first robbery at 13 and has 90 previous convictions, had admitted conspiracy and possessing a firearm.

His failure to reform has devastated his sister, who tried repeatedly to help him mend his ways and even paid for him to go to rehab.

A source said: “She knew he was about to be sent away for a long time. She finds it all very sad.”

Tweedy loaned four accomplices an imitation handgun for the Post Office raid.

The gang gathered at his two-bedroom semi-detached house before the heist which terrorised staff, women and children in Longbenton, north Tyneside.

Tweedy waited at home and welcomed the others back, letting them hide a gun and a machete in his loft.

But they were so inept that police were on to them within hours.

While they took a taxi into Newcastle to spend their £2,000 haul boozing at pubs and a hotel, detectives found their getaway car dumped behind the house Tweedy shares with his long-term partner Emma Stanners, 30, and their two-year-old son.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that Tweedy had already served time for other robberies and serious assaults.

In plotting last May’s job, he breached a suspended sentence for assault and possessing a pepper spray.

The rest of the gang were last week sentenced to more than 26 years behind bars.

Cheryl’s spokesman was unavailable for comment yesterday.

The Black Eyed Peas star – who first became friends with the brunette beauty when she appeared in his Heartbreaker music video – insists he and Cheryl have a platonic relationship but he enjoys reading stories describing them as a couple.

He said: “The me and Cheryl rumours? Those are funny. I thought those rumours were cool. They weren’t true but they were cool. They were cool rumours.”

Being just friends with a girl is nothing new to the 35-year-old singer-and-producer, and he admits at high school he wasn’t very successful with the opposite sex.

He explained: “Ever since high school I would like a girl and they would say, ‘I see you as my brother.’ Wasn’t that irritating? But it kept me out of trouble. If I’d had it the way I wanted it in high school, I wouldn’t be focused on my music like I am now, and I’d probably have a billion kids.

Cheryl Cole has landed a record deal in the US worth £6 million, it has been reported.

Cole made a short visit to Los Angeles this week, where it is believed that the X Factor judge discussed a lucrative contract with Universal.

The record company has apparently offered to release her latest album Messy Little Raindrops in America next year, in addition to two further albums – although specific details are still being worked out.

A source told The Sun: “Cheryl got a call from some very senior people at Universal saying they wanted to see her. They are the kind of people who when they say, ‘Jump,’ you ask, ‘How high?’

“So she jumped on a plane and went to LA for 36 hours. Derek [Hough] was there to ferry her to and fro and give her support as these big execs can be quite scary.”

Bosses at Universal are said to have called Cole on Sunday night after her single ‘Promise This’ became the fastest-selling UK number one of the year so far.

Cheryl Cole has revealed that the last year has been the worst of her life.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the X Factor judge confessed that the experience of her divorce from love-rat ex Ashley has battered her confidence – leaving her with no tears left to cry.

And her battle with killer disease malaria left her so ill she ended up wishing her life would end.

In an emotional chat, the tearful singer, 27, said: “You know what I want more than anything? Those last ten seconds on New Year’s Eve. ‘10, 9, 8… 2011! I’m going to scream them.

“I’m going to shout them out. I’m going to call everybody I love and just welcome the New Year and the new start.”

Reflecting on the devastating break-up of her marriage, Cheryl went on: “I never will understand why this has happened. Never. I just don’t get it.

Cheryl Cole may be one of the UK’s most famous Geordies, but reports have suggested that Chezza has developed an American twang to her accent since being in LA. The X Factor judge who jetted out to the US with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough last month after contracting malaria, is said to have started using American words and phrases.

A source told: “Cheryl has developed a slight American accent whilst she’s been there but it’s still a long way off sounding like she’s not from Newcastle.”

They added: “Derek has been mocking her about a few phrases and he also does a good impression of her voice now.”

The newspaper claims the Girls Aloud star is determined not to lose her Geordie accent so that she doesn’t sound like UK export Joss Stone, who famously lost her Cornish twang in favour of a more Stateside sound.
